Ethereum has woken up again: who is pushing ETH up and where can the price go next?

Ethereum is once again in the spotlight of the crypto market. After a few weeks of consolidation, ETH accelerated sharply and rose above $2,700, and along with the price, interest in the main altcoin of the market grew.

But the most interesting thing is not happening on the schedule.

Behind the movement of Ethereum there are several capital flows at once:uS spot ETFs, institutional purchases, ETH accumulation by large holders and market rebound.

Therefore, the main question today does not sound like this:

“Why is Ethereum growing?”

Rather:

“Who buys ETH and how sustainable can this demand be?”

Ethereum has come out of a long pause

The chart provided clearly shows how much the market structure has changed.

After the peak of the previous impulse, Ethereum spent a long period of decline and consolidation. Then, in the summer of 2026, a recovery began, which gradually developed into a stronger movement.

By September, the price had formed a new wave of growth and is now trading well above summer lows.

At the time of preparation of the material, ETH is approximately in the area of$2 740according to the schedule used in the article.

And this is no longer just a rebound from the local bottom.

Reuters notes that Ethereum in September went up from the figurebull flag— consolidation, which was formed after a powerful impulse at the end of August. ETH broke through the September 11 high around$2 661,52, which technically reinforced the scenario of the continuation of the movement.

What is particularly interesting?

ETH was able to do this after a period when the market managed to digest the previous growth.

That is, buyers were able to enter not on vertical movement, but during a relatively long consolidation.

And this is where the most interesting part of the story begins.

Who buys Ethereum?

To understand the potential of movement, one graph is not enough.

I need to seewhere the money goes.

And here the picture becomes much more interesting.

1. Ethereum ETFs Receive Serious Inflows Again

US spot Ethereum ETFs have become one of the most prominent sources of institutional demand.

According to the ETF stream aggregators,On September 21, 2026, spot Ethereum ETFs received about $270 million in net inflows in a single trading session.

The day before, the inflow was about$143.8 million.

Before that, the market, on the contrary, experienced several difficult sessions:

  • September 16: around-$224 million;

  • September 15: around-$142 million;

  • September 14: around+$121 million;

  • September 11: around+$216 million.

This is a very important detail.

The market did not move exclusively in a straight line.

There were days when investors actively fixed positions, but then demand returned.

It is this behavior of flows that is often much more interesting than one huge inflow.

BlackRock is back at the center of the movement

ETFs stand out in particularBlackRock ETHA.

On September 21, ETHA accounted for about$110 millionfrom the total inflow of Ethereum ETFs, according to published data.

At the moment, the total volume of Ethereum ETF spot assets is measured in tens of billions of dollars, and the accumulated net inflow since launch is approximately in the region of$13.5 billion.

This means a simple thing:

Ethereum is gradually becoming an asset that an institutional investor can access through the familiar stock market infrastructure.

And this changes the very structure of demand for ETH.

But ETFs aren't the only buyer

There is another factor that may be much more interesting in the long run.

We are talking about companies that turn Ethereum into part of their corporate treasury.

One of the most notable examples isBitmine.

The company continues to increase its Ethereum position and in September it was reported about the purchase of another27,562 ETH for approximately $75 million.

After this purchase, the amount of ETH on Bitmine's balance reached approximately5.98 million ETH, which corresponds to about4.9% of total Ethereum supply. The company is striving to approach the 5% mark.

This is a completely different scale of demand.

ETF buys ETH to provide an investment product.

A company like Bitmine is actually betting thatthe Ethereum asset itself should become a strategic reserve.

And if this model continues to spread among other companies, it can create additional structural demand.

Why is this important for the ETH price?

Let's imagine the market as a regular auction.

The number of available ETH is limited.

If several large buyers appear at the same time who are ready to purchase an asset regardless of short-term price fluctuations, the free supply gradually becomes less.

At the same time, the price continues to respond to:

  • ETF streams;

  • corporate purchases;

  • whale activity;

  • derivatives;

  • retail demand;

  • the state of Bitcoin;

  • macroeconomics.

Therefore, Ethereum can move much faster than it seems at first glance.

Another interesting signal — ETH began to look for

There is an indicator that professional traders rarely take seriously, but it is very useful for understanding mass interest.

Thissearch queries.

In early September, there were reports of a sharp increase in global interest in Ethereum in Google Trends. According to one review, the search interest in the wordEthereum hits all-time high, exceeding the previous peak that was observed during the previous large cycle.

At the same time, different Google Trends services can show different values depending on the region, period and the selected search query, so the absolute indicator should not be perceived as an independent trading signal.

But the very fact of increasing attention is important.

Because the market often goes through several stages:

professionals buy first → then institutional money is connected → then the asset is noticed by a wide audience.

If the last stage really begins to form, this can create an additional flow of capital.

And what happens to the volumes?

There is an interesting point here too.

Ethereum is not just slowly creeping up.

In September, there was a surge in volatility, and on September 19, according to CFGI, ETH showed a movement of approximately+6.8% in one day— this was the strongest daily movement of the month at that time.

At the same time, the current market cannot be called completely euphoric.

CFGI estimates the September sentiment at ETH around the zoneGreed, however, volume, momentum, and technical factors remain heterogeneous.

This is more interesting than the situation when absolutely all indicators are already in the zone of extreme greed.

Ethereum vs Bitcoin: Why does ETH look particularly interesting now?

Bitcoin remains the main asset of the crypto market.

And that's important.

As BTC rises, Ethereum gets additional support through overall risk-on demand.

But ETH has a history of its own.

Ethereum is not just a cryptocurrency.

This is the infrastructure on which they work:

  • stablecoins;

  • DeFi;

  • tokenized assets;

  • applications;

  • various financial protocols.

That is why some institutional analysts consider ETH not just as “the second cryptocurrency after Bitcoin”.

For example, Standard Chartered associates the long-term potential of Ethereum with the growth of stablecoins, the tokenization of real assets and the use of Ethereum as a financial market infrastructure. The Bank maintained a constructive long-term view of ETH at the beginning of 2026.

But here it is important to dividelong-term investment thesis and short-term price.

Even a strong fundamental scenario does not mean that ETH will grow without corrections.

What does the technical picture say?

Here the situation becomes especially interesting.

Reuters indicates a breakdown of the Ethereum level$2 661,52.

From a technical point of view, Reuters analysts consider the bull flag figure as a potential model of the continuation of the trend.

Based on the height of this formation, the technical target is about$3 050.

In this case, the intermediate zone of possible consolidation is located approximately in the range$2 775–$2 825.

Above the market, Reuters also highlights the area$3 395–$3 445, which corresponds to previous highs.

But there is a downside.

If ETH returns below$2 560–$2 565, the technical picture becomes less convincing.

And care below the zone$2 350–$2 360will already mean a much more serious deterioration in the structure of the current movement.

This is not a price forecast and not a guarantee of movement — these are levels that allow you to understandwhere the technical structure of the market is changing.

The most interesting thing: what can break the growth of Ethereum?

ETH now has a fairly strong fundamental background, but this does not mean that there are no risks.

1. Reversal of ETF flows

Recent days have shown how quickly flows can change.

After strong inflows, the market was already showing large outflows.

If a series of positive ETF sessions ends and a steady outflow of capital begins, this will become one of the main factors of pressure on ETH.

2. Strong dollar and high bond yields

Ethereum remains a risk asset.

If investors begin to move en masse into the dollar and government bonds, the cryptocurrency market may face a new wave of pressure.

Especially given the current sensitivity of markets to inflation and interest rates.

3. Overheating after pulse

The faster ETH grows, the greater the likelihood of profit taking.

This is a normal process.

That is why, after a strong movement, it is not the growth rate itself that becomes much more important, but the ability of the pricehold broken levels.

So where can Ethereum go?

At the moment, a rather interesting fork is forming in front of ETH.

On the one hand:

ETF → institutional demand → corporate accumulation ETH → growth search interest → technical breakout.

On the other hand:

high volatility → macroeconomic risks the → possibility of reversal of ETF flows → profit taking.

That's why the coming weeks may be more important than you think.

If the inflows into ETFs continue, large holders continue to accumulate ETH, and the price holds above the breakout zone, the market will receive confirmation that the current momentum has not only a speculative basis.

If ETF flows turn negative again, and ETH loses key technical levels, the current growth may turn out to be another wave within a wider range.

ETH no longer looks like just “another cryptocurrency”

And, perhaps, this is the main conclusion.

Ethereum is gradually turning into an asset around which a full-fledged financial infrastructure is being formed.

ETFs give institutional capital a regulated way to get exposure to ETH.

Corporate treasury companies are starting to accumulate Ethereum.

Stablecoins and tokenized assets create additional fundamental demand for Ethereum infrastructure.

And the growth of search interest shows that the market is beginning to notice this already outside the professional crypto community.

But that's why Ethereum is getting more interesting and more complex at the same time.

Now not only the mood of traders is behind the price of ETH.

There are real cash flows behind it.
